Wakame is a seaweed that looks like a slippery spinach. The seaweed is obtained from the east coast of North America and is often known as Atlantic wakame due to its similarity to the Pacific, Japanese wakame. Wakame uses the same method as many other seaweeds, including soups and green or fruit salads. When dried, it expands at least 10 times its dry size. It is also known as babberlocks, bladder locks, kelp, and winged kelp.
