Description: This rare organic tea hails from the Himalayan tea-producing region of northern India. Organic Kumaon black tea comes with a unique aroma with a festive vegetal finish reminiscent of its Darjeeling counterparts from the Himalayan belt. The Kumaon region had first planted the tea in the 1850s, but at that time, it was too far to get the tea from the mountains. As a result, the commercial market was unaware of this tea, and for the last 170 years, the tea has thrived in the wild. At the beginning of the decade the 1990s, the Indian government initiated a program to revive the tea growth for the commercial market to create rural livelihood opportunities.
